Utility Belt
A surprisingly effective alternative to bulkier hydration packs, hip packs, and even handhelds, the Ultimate Direction Utility Belt is a truly low-profile tool for those heading out for long miles on the trail. With its simple, minimalist design, the Utility Belt gives you three large storage pockets that let you bring what you need to on the trail with you. The pockets are large enough to fit any sized smartphone, a packable rain shell, or a soft 500ml water bottle. With its snug fit and stretchy mesh construction, this belt also works to eliminate bounce, ensuring that nothing you want to bring along is off limits because of its weight. A smaller security pocket keeps keys and IDs safe and sound as you run, and as if all of that storage wasn't enough for such an unobtrusive belt, it's also got elastic straps that let you stow a pair of collapsible tracking poles onto the back of the belt when they're not in use.

not good if you have wide hips
I bought a small because my waist is 27 inches, but it is not anywhere near enough stretchy to fit over my 38 inch hips. Because of how little stretch the material has, I don't think sizing up would help because then it would be too floppy around the waist. I'm sure it's great if you have slim runner hips!

Better than expected ..
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
I was skeptical when i bought this that it would actually hold what i wanted it to hold, and still be comfortable while running. Im happy to say that it exceeds expectations in both categories! What did I want it to hold? Good question! I actually got this as a solution to carrying dog stuff (collapsible bowl, 500ml softflask, snack bag of dog treats, a few shitbags and hand sanitizer, gu/energy chews, my phone, headphone case, and keys) and it works like gangbusters to keep things all together and organized in the 4 total pockets. I typically dont fill the flask all the way as it fits better about 3/4, and doesn't put pressure on the bite valve preventing leaking. With it all loaded and situated where it needs to be it really keeps things in place and with the flask in it does have some bounce, but ultimately less than another UD belt ive had. For runs where I dont need the flask in it it pretty much doesnt bounce at all, and again less than an different belt ive used from them. Little loops above the pockets make them easy to find and pull open to get at whatever you need. Ive also used them to clip the dog bowl or a pair of gloves to. Havent used the elastic straps for trekking poles yet but its a nice place to loop a layer through if you need to drop a layer. Can be worn under or over clothing, i wear it under and havent had any issues chafing wearing it next to skin. Easy machine wash too! Overall really pleased with this, had it out for up to 12 miles fully loaded (w/flask) and think its a great vest alternative for cooler weather or shorter runs.
