We built the Stoic Desert Short to handle all the slot canyons we slide through and sandy hills we sled down. It's a durable pair of shorts with a mesh liner for the ventilation needed when we're adventuring in warmer climates. The free-moving relaxed fit includes a drawstring waistband to keep our shorts on when we see rattlers on the trail. Plenty of pockets separate our granola bars from our wrappers.

These Shorts Runs Really Small
- Familiarity:
- I returned this product before using it
I bought these shorts in my usual size, XL, and they were too tight. I would size up if you have thicker thighs.

If you are between sizes, order up
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
I ordered both small and medium in these shorts thinking I would fit best in the small as the size guide said that a small fits waist sizes 30-31 in. and I am 30." however when I got them, I discovered that they fit tight in my legs and the mediums still provide super good firm hold around the waist. I have thicker legs compared to my waist and these are not as baggy as patagonia baggies so take that into account. the material feels very high quality and these are very comfy when they do fit

Really Enjoying These Shorts
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
I've had these shorts for about two weeks now and have worn them a lot already. Mostly for running but also just getting around town and I really like them. I haven't washed them and usually like to wash an item prior to writing a review but decided to go ahead and post this anyway. I bought the black ones and the deep pockets have a contrasting black fabric for the pocket extensions so that they have some visual interest to them. They're fairly comfortable, I really like the two large front pockets as well as the zippered back pocket, plus they look good and are unique. I'm 6'1", 180 pounds and lean and vacillate between sizes Medium and Large. I went with the Large size because I was concerned the Mediums would be too short for me as I tend to like my shorts with a 7-9 inch inseam, but the Larges fit perfectly and aren't too short.

Good Enough For The AT
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
These were one of two pants I had for several hundred miles hiking the Appalachian Trail. The fit is great, the pockets are HUGE, and they feel great. Don't let the name mislead, these are good for deserts and forests alike.
