Why We Like The Stan's NoTubes Rim Tape

Stan's NoTubes Yellow Rim Tape has become the standard for achieving a proper seal when converting "normal" rims to tubeless. And by normal, we mean non-UST rims with spoke holes that pierce the outer wall of the rim. What's the big deal with Stan's Yellow Rim Tape, you ask? Well, we don't know how it does what it does, but it makes the magic happen. When applied correctly, it provides a durable, long-lasting seal.

Works as advertised

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

After a soul-crushing experience trying to mount and seat a Continental Xynotal, I needed to re-tape my rim. The tape was much thicker than I thought and not quite as sticky. But it works like a charm. I taped over the valve stem hole twice, which did the job. Some instructions have the overlap at the opposite end of the valve hole, and others have you going around the rim twice. I would like to give a shout out to the gear adviser who helped me pick this product and the size needed. Thank you!

Had the sticking power of a wet band aid

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Had all the sticking power of a wet band aid. Used the whole role trying to get a seal, unsuccessfully. Bought a roll of muc off tape and got a seal first try.

The best rim tape

If you are setting up a set of tubeless wheels, look no further. The Stans tape was very easy to work with. Make sure to get a width which is a few mm wider than your rim. For example, a 30mm rim would benefit from a 33mm wide tape.

Original Still the Best

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

Used on Enve mountain wheels. I was using gorilla tape, but went back to Stans. Easy to install, lasts and easy to change when necessary.
