Why We Like The Session MIPS Helmet

Style meets ventilation for total comfort in all-mountain applications in the new Smith Session MIPS Helmet. This all-new cranium coverage keeps your noggin on lockdown with a combination of Smiths Koroyd technology and MIPS, shielding you from impacts both direct and oblique, so you can charge through rowdy rock gardens while staying ventilated as you weave your way through technical switchbacks to the top for round two. And Smith doesn't hold back on the good looks either, with a modern and sleek style that falls neatly between the previously loved Rover and Forefront, giving just a little more coverage than its cross-country cousin, but with less bulk than the enduro-ready Forefront.

Amazing helmet

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

Finally, a helmet that fits perfectly! It's comfortable, lightweight, and breathable. It is low profile without compromising coverage. I love the matte color block. Would recommend this mountain biking helmet.

Great for the Whole Family

Familiarity:
I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share

Incredibly lightweight but sturdy helmet that can be easily adjusted! The whole family loves them and it is great that there are several designs to choose from.

Great Design!

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I bought this a month ago and love the design and the color. I always buy Smith because of their lifetime warranty. My measured head circumference was in between the small and the medium so I bought both to send one back and definitely needed the medium size.

Love it!!

I really wanted to get a MIPS cycling helmet since I got a new mountain bike :-) I ordered the medium b/c according to the measurements I was just barely into the medium range...but when it arrived, it was just too big...not able to dial it snug or anything...so my husband got a new MIPS helmet, which was fine. I knew I was one of those "in between sizes" when I ordered it...So I ordered a small and am thrilled with it. It is a snug fit but after riding for several sweaty hours it didn't get "too" snug...which was a concern for me. It feels super comfortable and I forget it is there. I have pulled off the visor on helmets in the past b/c they were useless...but this one actually WORKS...so it stays! and I am glad to have it.

Uncomfortable

The helmet seems to have good build quality, but a design choice makes this helmet quite uncomfortable for me. The inner plastic retainer that actually secures the helmet to your head has very sharp edges. The edges dig into the sides of my head, especially at the back, and is very uncomfortable. Another issue I have is that the the helmet wants to sit too low on my brow making it difficult to see.

Saved me!

I crashed yesterday in a MTB race, landing unconscious about 10-12' down. I had lost consciousness for about 2 minutes and didn't remember anything from that day and am only able to recall bits and pieces from after arriving at the ER. I was wearing this helmet, and I can't imagine how much worse off I'd be if I hadn't been! I purchased it recently to replace my god-awfully uncomfortable Fox MTB helmet and I'm sure glad I did. Hoping to replace it with a Smith, but all of the colors I prefer are out of stock :( Since I'm laid up for a couple weeks anyway, maybe I'll get lucky if I wait a bit?!

So disappointed in the comfort of this helmet.

What the actual F is going on here? This helmet is NOT comfortable. The chin strap. The straps themselves do not lay flush with the sides of your face, the webbing naturally bends, letting sides of the webbing touch your face. This can be engineered substantially better. The twist mechanism on the back of the helmet has small plastic pieces on either side that DIG into the back of your head. HARD plastic pieces. This is the section of the helmet that should hug the back of your head for comfort. Instead it DIGS into the back of your head. Some engineer thought to add these hard plastic pieces here, why? They HURT. What the F are the engineers thinking. This thing is so uncomfortable, Im blown away.

Feels Great, Looks Great

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

This helmet was an upgrade in quality, appearance and fit from my last helmet and I am so glad that I made the purchase. I was initially drawn to this helmet because of the amazing color choices - I wanted a purple helmet, and teal is my other favorite color! This helmet has MIPS, it fits well and its adjuster strap does a great job. The airflow is nice, and I never overheat on my hot desert rides. My only note is that when my hair is in braids, sometimes the adjustment side strap catches on my hair, so I have to loosen it before putting it on and re-tightening. Also, my head is in between a small and a medium - I originally ordered a medium and it was way too big, so I swapped it for the small and it fit perfectly. Definitely would recommend, especially for what you get at the price point.

I LOVE this helmet! I originally ordered one in a different color, but I ordered a Medium and it was too big. :( So I got the white and grey color in a small and it fits great! It let's air run through and I haven't had a sweaty head yet!
