Why We Like The Mission MIPS Helmet

We take on those big objectives with the Smith Mission MIPS Helmet. Built with the MIPS impact system, this helmet redirects energy during impact to reduce rotational forces and add protection in the case of a crash.

The EPS foam interior and polycarbonate shell exterior work together to help protect and fend off low hanging branches or hard packed snow. Adjustable ventilation allows for airflow to cool off the interior of the helmet, but can also be closed off during especially cold days when that extra warmth is wanted. If the day does get too warm, the ear pads can be removed in order to dump extra heat and allow for additional climate control.

runs small

Familiarity:
I returned this product before using it

Based on my measured head circumstance and the size chart I should have been a Medium but the helmet was way too tight, even without any helmet liner or balaclava underneath. Will return. otherwise looks like a quality helmet.

Fits great

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I bought a month ago and have skied with it once. Fit great right out of the box with a little fine tuning by turning the knob. Kept my noggin warm and like being to open and close the vents depending on conditions. Only knock is its a little harder to hear with this helmet than my old one.

Painful to ears

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Thick ear pads pressed against my ears and became so painful I was constantly trying to loosen the helmet and take it off on the ski lift despite the helmet being on the large side for me, in fact it was probably too large. Seems to run slightly larger than the Giro helmets. Dial to adjust the fit was clunky and very hard to use without gloves, much less with gloves, seems like it'll break. Vents were nice and functioned well. worked well with my smith goggles, I could tell the airflow was increased but some people find that cooler and thus uncomfortable despite improved anti-fogging.
