Why We Like The Mirage MIPS Helmet
The Smith Mirage MIPS Helmet features all the comfort we need for long days taking laps, with adjustable venting and a lightweight in-mold construction. The Multi-directional Impact Protection System (MIPS) helps reduce rotational forces that occur during an oblique impact, and Smith's Aerocore construction combines traditional EPS foam with proprietary Koroyd in order to increase impact resistance and improve airflow. A dial-fit system makes it easy to micro-adjust the fit—even with a gloved hand—while a cozy liner keeps us warm against the howling wind. The snap-in earpieces are audio-compatible, should we desire tunes while we ride, and they can easily be removed when the days are warm.

Great Smith Product For the Price
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
This helmet is a great value! It does not sacrifice functionality or safety, though it doesn’t feel as luxurious upon closer inspection as more expensive Smith products. This is as expected, and Smith has done a great job with it. I picked up a rose colored helmet after rocking the Smith Variance for a few years. This helmet has all the features of my last one — albeit the audio insert openings are a bit hidden in the design, but are present and fully functional (I was able to insert my Alecks once I figured out how to open up the ear pads). Close to the top of the inner ear pads and along the inner back of the helmet there is a velcro seem that takes a bit of patience to open up the first time. Once you open it once, it’s much easier afterwards. Hope this helps someone!

Comfy!
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
I haven?t hit my head hard enough yet to review it from a safety perspective, but it?s been great so far! Warm for the cold days and vents for the warm ones. The padded chin straps make it comfy as well. Hard to tell I?m wearing anything.
