Why We Like The Smith Maze MIPS Helmet
One of the lightest snow helmets available, the Smith Maze MIPS Helmet brings us the same ultra-light feel and minimalist look as the original, but with an added safety system to improve protection. The Multi-directional Impact Protection System helps reduce rotational forces in the event of an impact, while the In-Mold construction cuts weight and bulk without compromising protection. Plus, the nine fixed vents and AirEvac system let us keep cool on warm spring days and intense hikes, and the self-adjusting fit system offers a comfy, secure fit.

Great helmet!

This is a great helmet, the only thing I can criticize is that it won’t fit all types of smith goggles. I have the smith I/O and the helmet had quite the overhang with the goggles. I think the mags or bigger/thicker goggles would work better and look more flush.

If you?re looking for low profile. Stop searching. This is the lid for you. I tried Multiple other companies and had to send them back to my super rad Gearhead. They all looked like astronaut helmets. Not stoked. Then the smith arrived and it?s everything I was looking for. Simple, super comfortable and actually low pro! Just stop looking. This is it, that?s all. My dome is a 7 1/4 profit hat size. The Large fit well.

Not as good as I hoped

Two things about this helmet are less than ideal: 1) Instead of a snap in the back, there's a hook. I took the helmet out for the first day yesterday and my goggles were dangling when I first put it on. As I went to reach them and pull them over, they fell to the rocky ground and scratched up the lenses. So if you get this, you may want to retrofit some kind of snap to make sure your goggles say secure. 2) It doesn't have a Boa adjuster to adjust the size. They've made it a lot harder to adjust requiring you to take it off each time, make a small adjustment, then try to put it back on. If you want to ski with a balaclava one day and without another and the width impacts the fit, it's far more involved to change than twisting a dial. And because of this, the range of fit seems much smaller. Otherwise, nice helmet. Super comfortable.

Great Buy

I run cold and this helmet alone keeps my head plenty warm (in single digit weather I was fine without a hat underneath). I love having the extra safety of MIPS and a seamless fit with my Smith I/O MAG Goggles. Overall, this helmet is a super solid choice.
