Can't go wrong with Smartwool.

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

As always the merino 250 baselayer is consistent with previous purchases. Keeps me warm from Georgoa to Norway. Worth the full price as well.

Perfect base layer to wear under a 3 layer Gore Jacket in winter in the mountains.

Great Baselayer

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

I bought one of these in January and skied for six weeks trying various layers to stay warm and still have the best mobility. The best combo was an under armour short sleeve short, the Smartwool baselayer and a Free Fly Bamboo Heritage fleece. Even at the coldest temps I was warm. I bought two more of these Smartwool baselayers.

Great base layer

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Bought this for a ski week at Big Sky. Love Smartwool and this is no different. Very soft and comfortable. Lightweight but still very warm. Wore it 3 days straight and still no odor. Love it!

Great baselayer

Familiarity:

I have (2) Smartwool250 base layers. I use them backcountry backpacking. In warmer weather I use one for my evening wear/sleeping. Last year on a cold weather trip I used the second one as a daytime shirt. They keep me warm and don't pick up odors after a week of backcountry wear. Love them.

Excellent second layer

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

Perfect as a pajama top to wear around the house and as a second layer over a snug fitting next to skin layer. I typically wear a Patagonia capeline mid-weight base layer under a smart wool 250

Nice shirt

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I decided to keep this shirt because I wanted a merino wool base layer in grey that could not only be worn as a base layer, but also worn over a dress shirt like a sweater. This shirt can do both. However, it is not as thick and warm as WoolX's version of this shirt. I would have gone will Woolx, but they don't produce this anymore in grey, only black. 4 stars for a great shirt but also 4 stars because for about the same cost there is a nicer and warmer quality version, albeit in a different color.

Finally Warm

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I bought this for my husband to keep him warm. We are in our 70?s and he gets cold just around the house. I?m an all seasons hiker and live by wool but I finally convinced my husband this is the way to go, even at home. He loved it. .soft and warm, not itchy. The close fitting style was fine for his older body although he is used to looser fits. The closer fit is also how it helps hold in the body heat so he is getting the concept. We?ll get more!

Love the base layer, but ..

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

Website measure of chest suggested a medium which was too large. The exchange for a small worked well - but the back and forth of driving to UPS, trying to find a phone number, confirming that both packages were delivered and finally connecting to chat was cumbersome. As Thoreau wrote: Simplify, Simplify.
