Why We Like The XT RT-MT800 Centerlock Disc Rotor
Bike progression has been forging ahead full-speed for some time now, and with all of the progress we see in bike geometry, riders are tackling the trail faster than ever. While this certainly is exhilarating when you've got the trail to yourself and you're booking it into banked berms, it also means you've got to dial in the ability to stop on a dime, should you come up on a climber working their way up the trail. Shimano's XT RT-MT800 Centerlock Disc Rotors are built to do just that, with Ice Technology and a deeper disc area to manage heat than an all-steel rotor can on its own. This tech combines an aluminum core sandwiched between steel extensions to provide better heat dissipation. This rotor is then paired up to an aluminum carrier, which further cools things down. This year's version ads in a tapered fin to help boost heat dissipation, and reduce fade, enabling better modulation and stopping power under pressure. The rotors are compatible with centerlock hubs only, and are available in a huge range of sizes to accommodate your gravel rig to enduro machine, and everything in between.

They slow the rotation of Earth!
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
No surprises here. The 203mm rotor is a substantial upgrade in stopping power. I swapped out my 180mm front rotor for this dinner-plate sized ring of Shimano goodness. Coupled with two-piston calipers, you can stoppie to your heart's content. Excellent feel and response; you can't go wrong. The only caution is that you could easily loop the bike if you are ham-fisted on the front brake on the steeps. So remember: when in doubt, don't grab a handful when only one finger can do!

Great product and service

Bought this the first time and the lock ring was faulty. Backcountry said they didn’t stock just the lock ring so they sent me a whole new rotor and I had it in 24 hrs. Terrific service! Been dealing with Backcountry a long time and they never disappoint.

Works great just like XT

Looks great on any bike. Seems to cool itself down well. Got the 160mm one which has 4 spider arms (not 5). If you are confused like myself: XT got silver rotor, silver fins, black spider. XTR got silver rotor, black fins, black spider.
