Make your own fate.

Don't let your horoscope dictate how you live your life—pull yourself up by the laces of your Scarpa Women's Zodiac Plus GTX Backpacking Boots, roll up your sleeves, and make your day a good one by exploring evergreen forests, high-mountain meadows, and remote summits. Designed to tackle almost any terrain you encounter as you blaze your own trail (or stick to the developed one), the Zodiac Plus is built with a waterproof and breathable membrane to keep your feet dry when conditions turn wet, and the aggressive Vibram sole gives you the traction necessary to stay upright whether you're hiking slick trails or rocky ridges.

Scarpa designed the Zodiac Plus with a slightly stiffer flex than its more mountaineering-focused Zodiac Tech boot, making this boot more trail-friendly than the Zodiac Tech, but a bit more adept at traveling above treeline with a heavy pack than Scarpa's R-Evolution boot. A Perwanger leather upper adds extra resistance against moisture from mushy alpine meadows and the unavoidable creek crossing, and the addition of a rubber rand across the toe and heel ensures that European-crafted leather remains intact when you encounter rocks, roots, and boulders throughout the course of which ever adventure you choose to embark on.

Narrow fit but awesome boot

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

Pros: Durable Great ankle support Good grip on scree Waterproof Cons: Heavier than other options Narrow fit - if you don't have narrow feet or you wear thick socks these will probably be unpleasant

Great boot/Poor fulfillment

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Just wore these out of the box and they were great. I have a regular foot, maybe a little bit of a high instep. I wear a 9 in street shoes and 9.5 in athletic shoes, the 41 fit great with a regular hiking sock, single layer. It was pretty cold this morning and my feet were warm. A little breaking in will make for a perfect boot. I have had many Scarpa tele boots and they have always fit and performed great. I would give 5 stars except Backcountry really blew the fulfillment. Instead of the boots I received 2 muffler plugs for a 2 stroke engine. Wonder how that happened? I do not own and never have owned anything with a 2 stroke engine. I also wonder who got the first pair of boots. I call customer service, which went fine. I requested an expedited delivery, they said -- sure, how about overnight. Sure, I said back. More than a week later I finally got my boots. Step it up Backcountry!!

Backpacking Boots

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

I brought these boots for a hiking trip in the White Mts NH. After the 5th day of wearing the boots the rubber on the toe box started to peel. For the price of the boots, the craftsmanship of the toe box was very poor.

Fav 3 season boot but order 1/2 size up

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

Although they are still in great shape after nearly 2 years of 3 season use, I'm ordering a second pair for when they wear out. These lightweight but supportive hiking boots are perfect for hard to fit feet like mine: sensitive ankles, narrow heels, high arches and wide toes. I'm usually 38 2/3 in a hiking boot but needed a 39 for width/arch room, especially with my orthotics. They are waterproof and comfortable in temperatures 30-80 F. For winter in Maine, I need winter hiking boots with more insulation and better snow traction.

Initial Impressions

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

A decently stiff boot which is an upgrade from my La Sportiva's which were getting a little soft for me. Good support, roomier toe box. Slight heel lift, need to switch out the insoles for my custom ones and I think they'll be pretty damn good boots for a few seasons of hiking and hunting. Got a 41, I'm typically a 9.5.

Great boots!

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

I just purchased my second pair of Zodiac Plus GTX by Scarpa. I hike and backpack the majority of the time in the Sierra Nevada range. It's rocky and tough on your feet, especially when carrying 35 pds. I've also used them for day hikes in the San Gorgonio wilderness area. Again, rocky! I've had extensive surgery on my feet, reconstructive and pinned together. My feet are always the first thing to slow me down and cause me trouble during long days or long weeks. I've spent YEARS searching for trail shoes and boots to help me stay in the mountains longer with less pain. This boot works! A semi rigid boot gives me the protection I need against the rocky terrain. These are still a fairly lightweight boot also! I was surprised how much flex I did have with them scrambling to summits. I get the support I need with a heavy pack for backpacking, yet they are useful on very rocky summits even when dayhiking and don't feel heavy. They are not insulated. I can use them late into fall in Southern California but I do switch to an insulated boot for winter mountaineering. I would call this a 3-season light mountaineering boot. Great in alpine but in warmer weather. I have never had wet feet and I plow through water and light snow with them. They fit like a glove. I'm a women's size 10 with average to narrow feet. The 41.5 fits me in this boot the best, even though that translates to a size 9.5. Due to the amount of time I'm in the mountains I need to replace boots regularly. These lasted over two years for me! That's a record!

Amazing boots!

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

No break in required foe these boots. Wore them out of the box on a 7 mile hike with a 3500 altitude incline to break them in. Have also completed 14ers in these boots. Best for more technical hikes - rocks, boulders, skree, etc. I've worn them on lesser hikes, but they are probably more boot than I needed for that. Either way, incredibly comfortable! I have a high instep and lots of shoes hurt my arch or the top of my foot. These boots did not - they were amazing from the first moment I put them on, until the end of long days hiking. I wear a size 9 hiking boot and took a size 40 in these boots. Might be narrow for wider feet. I would definitely recommend.
