Why We Like The Kailash Trek GTX Hiking Boot
Our backpacking trips might miss the brunt of the rainstorm, according to the forecast, but that still means we're trekking on muddy trails with the occasional puddle to circumvent. The forecast can sometimes be unreliable, and we'll end up dealing with a bit of rain anyway, but at least we can rely on the Scarpa Men's Kailash GTX Hiking Boot's waterproofing for rain, mud, and even snow. Its GORE-TEX Performance Comfort membrane provides reliable waterproofing as well as amplified breathability for moving fast on the trail. This boot also boasts Vibram's new Biometric Trek sole, which includes 3D-molded lugs and toe caps for trail-specific traction.

Great boots
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
I hike approximately 1,500 miles per year with an average load of 25lbs. I tried several boots in effort to replace my Salomon Quest Prime GTX, which were discontinued and replaced with a newer model. The Kailash are waterproof; I have submerged them (with gators) several times and no wet feet. The soles are extremely grippy, shock absorbing, and are rigid and flex in the the right places to make them very nice for scrambling. I find them comfortable, and I haven?t had any blisters, hot spots, or foot strain. Hopefully these will not be discontinued.

Wow, Scarpa destroyed a once perfect boo
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
The previous generation of this boot was perfect in every way and Scarpa have destroyed a once perfect boot. This boot used to be the choice of special forces world wide and their first mistake was adding a stupid blue color to it making it unusable and stupid looking. Secondly, the quality and toughness has really gone down hill. Inexcusable Scarpa, back to Zamberlan or Hanwag for me. Why mess with a perfect product?
