Why We Like The Crux Shoe
Whether we're scrambling the talus fields of Joshua Tree to get to a crag or we're taking on a Yosemite approach, the Scarpa Men's Crux Shoe has sure footing we can rely on. An upper comprised of suede and recycled polyester airmesh lining offers ventilation so our feet aren't soaked through with sweat by the time we reach the trailhead, and a Vibram Vertical Approach rubber sole helps us get traction on steep or slick terrain. The microporous dual-density EVA midsole cushions under proven pressure zones to maintain comfort even during the most trying approach and protects underfoot from sharp, jutting rocks or a mid-trail root.

Great tough shoe
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
Been wearing these Scarpas every day. They are comfortable. Probably bought a half size larger than normal but I plan to hike in them as well as bicycle. Great mountainbiking and gravel riding shoes. The color is very easy on my eyes. The construction is beaautiful and strong. The sliding tounge issue has been fixed. Bill

Super comfortable and stable base
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
These shoes are a great balance between a tennis shoe and a more substantial hiking boot. The footbed is super comfortable. They did not require any break in period and are highly adjustable due to full length lacing. The soles are very stable on uneven ground. They feel like a slightly more bulky skateboard shoe. I hope this minimizes ankle rolls. So far I am very happy. I will try to update the review after I have used them for awhile. (I sized up 1/2 a European size so that I can wear extra socks in winter. The still feel comfortable with only 1 sock.)

Great All Around Approach Shoe
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
I got this shoe with the intention for fairly slabby, slightly technical, and boulder hopping approaches. This shoe fits that criteria perfectly. I downsized this from my normal 41.5 in street size, which required a minor break in. The foam sole and suede upper really mold to your foot similar to a climbing shoe. the super soft rubber sole and to the toe lacing really lets you dial your toe in with confidence. The soft rubber is extremely sticky, but very soft, I wouldn't recommend using this shoe for extensive hiking or daily / around town use as you will really wear the shoe down quickly. The suede upper really sacrifices breath-ability so using these in hotter climates will leave your feet really swampy. But in the winter with wool socks I was kept extremely warm even with some wetness that came through. I've worn overshoe crampons with these and they work just fine, but I wouldn't use them extensively as you will notice wetness with little to none of it drying out. This is a great approach shoe but I would not use it for more than approaches or scrambling as you will wear them out quickly.
