Sizing Note
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
I ordered the Kayla in Chalk size 4 and was initially surprised to read the comments saying the sizing was too small. The Chalk pair fit a lot looser than expected. I could enjoy a massive feast and have ample room for expansion. Then I got 2 more pairs of Kayla, also size 4, one in Indigo, one in Black out. The Indigo fit as I expected and hoped: comfortable, form fitting, but definitely not too tight. The Black however, were tighter throughout the legs and especially the waist. Holding the black pair against the other pairs, the waist band is visibly 1" - 1.5" smaller than the chalk and indigo, serious muffin topping and slicing to get the button closed. I surmise the Black was a previous season pattern cut. It seems in 2023 Prana made the Kayla a little more generous, which is nice for an active lifestyle and not overly stressing the fabric or compressing the belly. Of course, there are small fit differences among pants of the same size. The current 2023 season colors I have in Chalk and Indigo are relatively close in fit with minor differences. I'd say they are more like slim to "normal" fit. But in the case of the Black, I'd interpret a full size up from what the size chart says. Those were definitely cut from a different pattern and they are more on the slim cut side. Why I've kept going back to Prana pants over the past 8 or more years, is because I have narrower hips, longer legs, stronger thighs and butt. Prana pants generally fit my more muscular proportions better, are flattering, not overly constricting and good for activity as well as work appropriate.

Poor Materials

After just a few everyday wears and only once through the washer, the elastic in the fabric is already showing signs of giving way—the fit looks and feels a size larger now than they were at purchase, and you can see the elastic rippling and buckling at the hip line. It's like the whole pant has just drooped. The denim is also very thin and delicate and already showing significant signs of pilling & wear at chafe points. I'm disappointed because they looked great to start with and I wish I'd gotten a little more use out of them before they started to get this scruffy.

Check the back view before washing

I wanted to love these jeans - they?re a little snugger than I would normally wear, but were still comfortable and passed the ?flattering or not? husband question (he?s honest and has no issue saying ?not?). It never occurred to me that I needed to check the back view prior to washing them. Unfortunately, I should have. The material is soft, but very thin. I put them on after washing them and did a 360 degree check. To my dismay, in brighter light, every lump and bump on the backs of my thighs is visible. If you have so much as a scrap of cellulite, you will be displaying it to the world (at least in the color Sparrow). I?ve never run into this before and will end up donating them without every wearing them.

Run small
Disappointed because they run small & didn't fit, but fabric was soft & felt like they would've been comfortable to wear.

Loved these when I got them. Wore them twice and they started coming apart on the corners of both back pockets. So bummed...

Love love love these jeans!!
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
First jeans I've found that fit nicely in the hips/thigh but don't cut into the waist. Love the colors, I ended up buying two. Comfortable and cute. They do seem to attract cat fur, maybe after several washes this will go away. Favorite jeans hands down.
