Why We Like The Tres Down 3-In-1 Parka
A lot of jackets claim to be all-season, but few deliver like Patagonia’s Tres Down 3-In-1 Women’s Parka. Ideal for a cold and wet winter, the Tres delivers unrivaled protection against harsh winter conditions. When the cold winds blow and bring the snow with them, a fully sealed H2No shell keeps the barrage of elements at bay. Recycled 700-fill down insulation sits just below, providing steady warmth as temperatures plummet.
When the cold weather leaves, the Tres stays put. The waterproof shell zips away from the down liner, giving us a trusted raincoat for April showers and beyond. When the leaves start to fall and chilly breezes return, the insulated liner functions as a stand-alone down jacket. The outer shell pairs with a detachable hood to create an added element of versatility for extra wet and gusty days.

Fits small, cannot layer
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
This jacket is cute but not functional for layering because the fit is so small through the shoulders. Not the best for Montana winter weather, more of a spring/ fall jacket. I wish I would have ordered a different jacket.

Comfiest Jacket Ever
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
I absolutely LOVE my new parka! I buy a medium in most Patagonia sweaters and jackets and a medium in this jacket fits perfectly! I tried it on with a thick sweater under it and also with a patagonia better sweater and it fits great! There was honestly even some wiggle room. I was hesitant to order true to size based on other reviews but I went with my normal size and it fits great!

The down filling leaks from the liner
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Even after following the care directions the down filling comes out of the inner liner frequently. So I am not very confident about the long term quality of the liner. Apart from this the jacket is very warm and fits really well.

Exactly what I was looking for
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
I?ve been looking for a slim fit winter coat for a while and this fits perfectly! I have an hourglass shape so I was a little nervous about the XS being tight around the chest and upper thighs but it?s not constricting. For reference I?m 5?3?, 120, 26 waist and a 32D. This jacket hits right at lower thigh but still 3 inches above my knees. If you want to wear a bulky sweater under it, I?d definitely size up, I could see the sleeves being too tight. I felt it was the perfect transition jacket that a 10-40 degree New England weather. I personally like a slightly lighter jacket because I get hot once I start walking/shoveling/etc.

Great heavy winter coat
- Familiarity:
- I returned this product before using it
Writing a review because I read so many before placing my order! This coat is the perfect heavy duty winter parka. The lining feels warm and the waterproof/windproof shell will keep you extra warm and dry. I am usually a medium and ordered a large and it fit perfect. I did end up returning the coat (backcountry was so helpful!), as I really wanted a lighter jacket to run errands and to the gym. Even in Boston, when walking through town I knew I would be way too hot in this coat. I ended up getting the Patagonia Radalie Jacket and am very happy. The Radalie doesn't have a waterproof shell, however I will be wearing just the puffer most of the time and the liner on the Tres 3 in 1 doesn't look as sharp alone.

Warm, slim fit jacket
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
I purchased this jacket two years ago + gave it to my sister - I just repurchased again for myself of off Backcountry and am pleased to say that this is still a great product. The main benefit of this is the slim fit profile compared to other winter coats. The hood is also deep enough such that it doesn't fall off when you're hair is pulled up. In terms of fit, the size small was roomy enough to fit a light sweater underneath, but not a lot of room for shoulders with anything thicker. For example, a Patagonia better sweater underneath this may feel a little restricted in the arms / shoulders. I've worn the coat through a New York winter, which kept me warm most of the time (except for temperatures below 15 degrees, which warranted an even longer / puffier coat i.e., Canada Goose). Of all winter coats I've tried, this one is the most stylish / slimmer fit for the warmth it provides.

Seattle Winter
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
I was looking for a warm jacket for Seattle, i recently moved from California.. I spent some time looking and reading reviews and was deciding between this and the frozen parka from Patagonia (which i think might be overkill in WA), and finally thought this one would be perfect.. not too bulky, good hood, long enough to cover my legs, zipper that zips both ways (so I can sit on the bus).. inside pockets, black..on sale! I am a size 4 thin/athletic build, and ordered a small. it fit snugly.. but if i want to layer even with a sweatshirt, I would feel to restricted in the arms and across the back. I exchanged it for the M, which is on its way! The material is great, and the hood is large enough to cover the front part of your hair, even with a ponytail. However, the sleeves are a tad long in the arms. I think this will be perfect for my commute, can't wait to wear it when we're all allowed to finally go back to the office!
