The perfect choice for long summer runs, Patagonia's Strider Pro 5in Short offers convenient storage and airy comfort whether you're on the trail or road. It's got four stretchy pockets around the waistline to hold all of those small essential items that make your run as efficient and enjoyable as possible. Keep energy gels, packable weather shells, and mini sunscreen bottles close by as you run, while the zippered back pocket keeps more important things like keys and cards tucked safely away. The Strider Pro is made with a lightweight, recycled polyester with a two-inch side split to give as much cooling airflow as you need in hot weather, and a knit synthetic liner wicks moisture, stretches, and breathes well to offer maximum comfort. Plus, the liner is treated with HeiQ Fresh anti-odor technology to keep things smelling fresh even after your longest and most grueling runs.

Runs Extremely Small
- Familiarity:
- I returned this product before using it
These are extremely snug around the waist area. I was hoping I'd be able to take them on a run but I don't think that'll be happening anytime soon. They look and feel great though.

Go-to shorts for all running adventures
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
Best running shorts out there. I have 3 pairs of them. Get them on sale if you can. They're great for road and trails, and the pockets enable storing of gus, jackets, gloves, hats, phones, etc. They aren't the best for dynamic stretching routines (yoga, etc.), but that's not what they're made for. I have run many ultras and 50mpw for multiple years wearing primarily these. Plus, Patagonia's warranty makes them clearly worth the investment. One of my fav pieces of running gear.

Not durable
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
I?ve had these shorts for less than a year and the material has worn through at the thighs. The material is not adequate. Previous versions were far superior. I have a previous version and they are far more robust and durable. The new versions are significantly inferior. I loved the previous versions with their durability and pockets, but these shorts fall short of my expectations.

Best shorts ever
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
I've been running competitively for ~20 years and these are the best running shorts I've owned. They're sized perfectly for most runners: larger than tiny split shorts, smaller than baggy joggers. Patagonia has figured out how to do pockets (small, on the hips, no velcro) better than anyone else. They also have a handy rear zippered pocket, so that's 5 total, but they've managed all that without making the garment bulky. The material feels light and well-constructed. Knowing that the shorts were manufactured without slave labor helps me appreciate 'em -- cheers Patagonia. [They run *slightly* small which may be relevant for those on the margins.]

Almost perfect

Live these shorts. The material is great and the storage is really practical. I can fit my phone in the back pocket easily. It?s easier in and out without the phone case but I can fit it with the case if I?m not going to take the phone out to change music or anything during my run. The pockets along the hips are perfect for smaller items like gels. Only downside is the liner is a bit tight. I?m not a big guy and I have pretty skinny legs yet every time I put them on I wish the liner was more accommodating.
