Good fit, function, and style

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

I normally wear size Small shorts, but tried these in XS because they were on sale and they fit perfectly. Good pockets, breathable material--very comfortable and functional for running and casual wear. Caution: I didn't know these come with a boxer-brief liner. I hated it at first because I prefer bikini-style liners. This doesn't bother me any more but can be annoying on hot, humid east coast summers when it feels like wearing an extra layer of clothes.

Everything I could hope for.

Hiking the VA section of the AT in August- heat, humidity, rain, and cool. They’ve been totally comfortable with no chafing and have dried quickly after drenching rain.

I really wanted to like them

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

The length, material, and inner liner is fine, but everything else felt odd. The waist band was tight so I'd suggest sizing up, but the band and material around it would fold up. The folding made the shorts very uncomfortable for me so I don't wear them at all.

Weird fit

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

The outer material seems nice and fits well, but the inner liner feels like it's a size smaller.

OK to me

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

Nice shorts but don’t quite work for me. Inseam a little long for my short legs. I prefer a 6 or 7 inch inseam. I like the liner and the short fabric. The drawstring is a little too flimsy, so if you tighten it down, it becomes a very thin string and digs in a bit. Lastly, the pockets are too shallow for my taste although they are all zippered, and I could see this being a benefit for running (less movement of the pockets with running). I still prefer the baggies.

Love these shorts, kinda

Familiarity:

These are great shorts for running, going to the gym, hiking or just daily summer living. This is my 2nd of 3 Nine Trails shorts and all 3 fit a little differently. These are great for running and pretty good for hiking, well, let me clarify - I love them for hiking. They are light weight, the liner keeps my legs from chaffing, the pockets are deep enough, but not so massive that they bounce stuff off my legs when hiking, the zippers open and close well. My only complaint is that they are not very durable. But that is the trade off for a pair of light weight shorts. I have poked holes in 2 of my shorts on slot hikes in Escalante, but the holes do not seem to be getting bigger. I will keep buying them, so I absolutely recommend them.

Great weight, pockets, durability and look. I'm going with these as my go-to shorts moving forward for running.

Nice light weight material that fits well. The liner offers a lot of support and the zippered pockets are a nice addition

One of my favorite Patagonia pieces

Wow! These shorts are a step up from the baggie shorts by Patagonia. Great for athletic use, lounging around and anything in between! Highly recommend. Soft fabric.

I have put a lot of miles on Patagonia's Strider Pro 5 inch shorts and I thought I would give these a try. They are slowly becoming my new favorite! The attached liner is amazing!
