Improvement over the Airshed

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Had a Patagonia Airshed half zip but needed to size up so got the Airshed Pro. Overall I like the product better than the Airshed and think it will take me further into Midwest winters when I go for a run due to the hood. Cons: I don't like the feel of the 'Airshed' material on the Pro vs the halfzip predecessor. It seems like it is a heavier weight (it may weigh the same in reality) but is less compressible and shows a lot of "fold lines". Was hoping for the original material with the cool cap sleeves and hood, but there may be a good reason why they chose to do it this way. The two tone color way does not look good, which is how I got it on sale, so no real qualms there.

"The One"

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

I purchased this shirt/shell/jacket (shellacket?) to use for running in temps between 40-65, when it's too warm for a insulated jacket but too cold for just a shirt. I must admit that I was very skeptical of this piece when I first got it. Minimally stretchy body? No wind resistant fabric in the arms or hood? I tried it on and it felt airy, unsubstantial. Certainly not warm enough for my intended purpose, I thought. I requested a return, boxed it up and tossed it in the car to drop off. Then life happened and I forgot to do so. Two days later I found myself about to start a long trail run in unexpectedly cold temperatures and nothing but a t-shirt. Realizing this was still in my car, I decided to bust it out and give it a shot and am so glad I did. Many of the features of this piece that seem a bit odd at first glance, such as the non-wind resistant arms and hood and the double zipper, are simply amazing when used for aerobic activities in colder weather. I run very hot and am comfortable running in this, with varying thickness base layers, in weather from 30-65 degrees. The aforementioned hood and sleeve materials work wonders to vent heat and the double zipper allows you to keep the hood from flopping about while still dumping heat. I have at this point used this for road running, trail running, mountain biking, and splitboarding and it is the perfect "put it on and keep it on" layer for all these activities when it is cool but not cold out. I do still keep a totally windproof layer in the pack for splitboard and mountain biking descents unless it is pretty warm out as the wind cuts right through the sleeve and hood material. The fabric has held up quite well so far to brushes with branches, etc. A quick word on sizing, I am 5'11", 190 lbs, athletic build. I started with an XL, after being advised to size up, which is a little baggy but not excessively so and preferred for more "shell" use such as splitboarding or mountain biking when I may wear a thicker baselayer or bibs, etc. underneath. I recently purchased a L (my typical size) which is a much tighter fit (tighter than any other size L Patagonia products I own) and preferable for running. Overall I am extremely happy with this piece. It has, surprisingly, become my go to piece of active outerwear for various outdoor activities in a huge variety of temperatures and conditions.

A must!

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

I love this for runs with temps in the 40-60s range, especially if windy. The half zip dumps heat when down or during higher exertion efforts. The material is super breathable and never feels clammy. Haven't needed the hood much at this point but is always a great bonus.
