GravelKing 650b Tire

Reinforced for long grinds down bumpy gravel roads, the Panaracer GravelKing 650b Tire features an Anti-Flat Casing that prevents inconvenient flats when you're a long way from help. This version of the GravelKing satisfies the needs of 650b gravel bikes and touring rigs gaining popularity with riders seeking agility and increased stand-over.

The grippy tread pattern inspires confidence across the jarring surfaces and loose rubble common to gravel stretches and off-road stretches. ZSG Natural Compound balances a low rolling resistance with tread longevity, giving you the best in efficiency and durability along mixed gravel and asphalt surfaces, seeing you'll encounter both on adventurous tours and everyday gravel grinds. Please note, this isn't the best tire for mucky conditions, as Panaracer developed a mud-specific version of this tire for sloppy muck.

Great tires, too many flats

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

Got 4 flats in 6 months, I've never had as many flats with any other tires, 3 of them have been tubeless. They work great on pavement and on light gravel, I got no traction on different terrain tho, I really liked them but can't give 5 stars with so many flats.

Gravel tire? No but a great slick tire

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

Even though these have the name GravelKing don't mistake these for some knobby tires that can attack everything from packed dirt, mud, to chunky loose bits. Yes 42mm will give you a lot of comfort and allow you to travel on some very basic "gravel" that a slick 28" wouldn't be great on but in essence these are just a very big slick tire. For me these tires are great for concrete gravel, which is riding on bumpy broken tarmac. The low resistance allows you to get some good speed while running lower pressure, which means really great comfort. The 42mm version at 700g is fairly light but with the minimal tread these tires do need to be replaced a bit quicker than other tires. So if you understand that these aren't really Gravel tires and you are okay with that my only real complaint is that these tires are tacky (great for traction) but when fresh they attract leaf bits like crazy. I am 140lbs and I recommend using 50-60 PSI, 50 (slightly bellow recommended) when you want more of that cushy life and 60 PSI when you are road riding.

My new default tires

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

My gravel bike was purchased more for the versatility and comfort fatter tires afford than the expectation of doing a lot of gravel riding, and while the WTB Byways the bike came with are great in almost every way, I wanted something with a bit less heft and rolling resistance and more road friendliness. The first outing on these GravelKings (650bX42) quickly proved to me that they will be my default tire for any ride that won't have me on gnarly surfaces. They roll quick, add noticeable comfort and handle very well. I'm a new fan. Great job, Panaracer!
