It can be hard to split the difference between the plethora of synthetic insulation midlayers on the market today, but we think the Outdoor Research Helium Insulated Hooded Jacket sets itself apart by combining extreme packability with desirable durability. This combination is made possible by the Diamond Fuse face fabric and VerticalX Eco insulation. This insulation packs down to fit in our pack easily, while the face fabric keeps us stress free at the crag, on big walls, and when bushwhacking through the forest.

Could have been Great
This is the poorest cut jacket I've ever worn. I am 6'3" and 215... I'm not small. I purchased an XL. The body wears like a 55 gallon garbage bag. The sleeves are so short that when I reach for anything, the cuffs are instantly near my elbows. The fabric and insulation are solid, but they don't work if you never wear the jacket because you have no confidence in it. I bought this as an insulation layer for ski patrol... Ive not used it once for this purpose since the sleeves are obscenely short. It is really frustrating. This product needs to be completely redesigned before I'd recommend it to a friend.

Lightweight Jacket
Large fits great. It is not an athletic fit but more capable of being layered. It's very lightweight and packable.

Light and weather resistant
I like to use this layer when I'm expecting precipitation and I'll substitute my down jacket for this one.

My go to light jacket
Since I received this it has been my go to. I use it pretty much use it in all conditions. From warm windy days to below freezing. It has been up 14rs in Colorado to Canyons in Southern Utah. For me and what I have done with it durability has not been an issue. 10/10 would buy again.

This jacket is extremely versatile and the daily driver. I'm a bike guide and am outside early in the morning when you need a little more insulation to start the day and this is exactly that. I like that you can wear it from working on bikes to going out to a nice dinner at night and it works equally well. Everyone has patagonia puffy jackets so I figured I would try another brand and this material seems extremely durable for such a lightweight jacket. Even being synthetic, its very packable and nice to have the warmth when wet!

Great Light Weight Jacket
This is a great light weight jacket. Ive use it hiking in light rain conditions, used it climbing/belaying, as well as a causally wearing around. I've rubbed it on rocks, snagged on trees no damage. It is warm, durable, and repels rain.

wind proof and amazing!
i love this jacket. i got a med, but should have gotten a large. that doesn't matter too much though as i still have room to put another insulating layer underneath. doesn't need much to keep you warm. the hood is nice and adjustable. i use it for everything. it is weirdly baggy, but tight.
