Why We Like the Coze Down Coat
The Coze Down Coat gives us a relaxed urban aesthetic that keeps us warm beyond the city's streets. Wherever we roam, the lightweight material cuts the force of wintry gusts and stops those stray wet flakes from soaking through. To keep chapping winds off our face, we pull the hood over our head, letting the baffle ruff take the bite of the chill while the tall collar shields our neck and chin. When a powder dump catches us by surprise, the synthetic fibers supplementing the down fill stops our heat from dissipating when the mounding flakes on our shoulders start to break through.

excellent - darker tapenade
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
I love this coat. It's not too long; not too short. The color in person is darker, more muted - a true green/brown olive tapenade! I think I like it, but some might say it's just an ugly green/brown! This coat is very water resistant, probably nearly waterproof, something they don't really advertise. This is why the texture of the outer layer is a bit rougher than some coats; it shed water like a duck! The pockets are deep and warm up front and the inside pockets (two) are one: zippered, and two: a bucket-sized cache pocket, a major selling point for me as I like to use a coat like a purse in winter! The fashion look is Vermont/Oregon/Seattle. In NYC it may run a bit hunter-esque, but that's a trending vibe?!? I'm into function over form, so this works for me. Make it cool by knowing that you're hot and toasty in -20 weather!!! I ordered my normal medium size. I think the fit is great. It's a billowy in the middle, but still somewhat fitted at the bottom for a feminine form and for warmth. I can wear a blazer underneath. I'm: 33/29/42, 150 lbs. 5' 6.5"

Warm cozy coat
- Familiarity:
- I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
I got this for my daughter for Christmas, she is having a baby and needed a coat to get through winter that was big enough or rather accommodate the bump!! This works great it has a bottom zipper so she can unzip from bottom up when needed and side zippers for added hip room. It fits great in a large with room for bump, soft inside and warm!! I am really impressed by outdoor research products quality. She loves this coat and says it's perfect!

Don't size down!

This is a fit review, as I can not speak to the longterm use of this jacket yet. In general, OR makes wonderful technical jackets though. For reference, I am 5'5" 150 and a size 6-8 typically. Hourglass shape with slightly broad shoulders. I am usually a small-medium. I do not like jackets like this to be fitted, I think it looks much better a little oversized. Get a slim or active fit jacket if that if what you want. I originally took the advice to size down, as it says on both Backcountry and the OR website, but that was a mistake. The shoulders were restrictive and tight when reaching up or forward. And while I could wear a light sweater underneath, it was uncomfortably fitted. If I was only going to wear a tank or tee underneath, small would be fine but not practical for winter clothing underneath. I ultimately sent the SM back for a MD. Customer service was very good, my exchange was simple and I would recommend buying this jacket. It is super cute, great length and durable and looks great with wide leg pants as well as leggings. I can't wait to have it for long soccer practices and games. Don't size down, do your regular size!
