Why We Like The Carbide Jacket
Versatile, low bulk, and stylish to boot, the Outdoor Research Carbide Jacket gives us burly protection against the elements through long days exploring the resort. The 3-layer Pertex Shield construction, along with fully sealed seams, offers waterproof, breathable performance in some of winter's worst storms, while the zippered underarm vents help us dump excess heat quickly after hiking for your turns. The wire-brimmed Halo Hood provides reliable visibility when the snow is coming down sideways, and a powder skirt keeps snow from sneaking in when we take a tumble.

Almost perfect shell
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
Waterproof and stretchy with a form fitting but fairly generous fit and all of the features. The Pertex is a bit thin but it still keeps wind and rain/snow at bay. The cut is a bit more generous than typical OR (a decent bit more room than a skyward shell in same size) so it’s easy to throw another layer underneath. If the powder skirt was removable this would be my go to rain jacket as well but it still works pretty well as a 4 season shell.
