One of our favorite bar tapes just got better thanks to a revised pattern and an updated polymer that work together to improve both grip and comfort. Lizard Skins also developed a new screw-in end plug that's easier to install and more secure than the previous generation. Positioned between their thinnest 1.8mm tape and their thicker 3.2mm tape, the DSP 2.5mm strikes a perfect balance between comfort and control, making it a top choice among numerous teams in the Pro Tour.

Stingy length
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Just installed this tape. Took about four tries to arrive to the endpoint with enough tape. They are very stingy with the amount of tape they give you. Especially for what it costs. The overlap is nowhere near the half width they show in the installation video on the lizard skin site. And forget about the figure 8 that they recommend around the brake levers. There's never gonna be enough for that. Aside from that I like the look and feel of the grip. Took it out for a ride and it's very secure in hand. Feels safe from slippage.

Good looking, great performing tape!

I love this new tape. I bought it in Celeste Green to use on my black road bike. Wrapped well. Advertised as stretchy, but the instructions were clear: NOT to stretch. I did wrap with steady, strong tension and got a great look and tight tape. The color really pops in a good way. It has a nice sticky texture and is a pleasure to ride. It has stayed clean. I can't comment on durability yet, but based on the feel, plus reviews and reputation make me think I will enjoy this for a long time.

Tough to Install, Tougher to Keep Clean
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
I’ll start with the positives, of which there are quite a few. The tape is VERY grippy, which is a good thing. This is by far the tackiest bar tape I’ve used, which gives me supreme confidence descending, even if my hands are sweaty. The cushion level is also great - still thin enough to avoid the bars from feeling massive, but it absolutely absorbs road buzz. The colors are also fantastic - you’re sure to have something that matches or compliments your frame. But that leads into one of the negatives… There are a couple of challenges, though, one of which being the difficulty of installation. It isn’t the hardest tape in the world to wrap, but it is far from the easiest. Maintaining enough tension to keep a tight wrap without stretching is a pain the the rear, especially around the hoods. To be fair, if this was the only issue I would still give this at least a four, if not a five star rating because a challenging installation is worth it if the product is awesome. Appearance is the other issue, which I hinted at above. I have the sky blue. It looks dynamite on my bike, but has been irreversibly stained after ONE RIDE. Quite literally one ride and the bar tape is already discolored from the places my hands were on the bars. I’ve tried soapy water and isopropyl alcohol, but nothing doing. This is a super premium priced product, and to have it permanently discolored after one ride is really disappointing. Perhaps a darker color would not be an issue, so take this complaint with a grain of salt.

Great tape...but not for wide bars.
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
This tape doesn't come with enough to wrap my entire bars which are particularly wide (50cm Cowchipper). I like the feel of this tape and it provides a good amount fo cushion, but if you have a wide ATB/gravel bar you likely won't have enough tape to get to the tapered section in the middle. That was frustrating and had me ready to give 2 stars. It earned an extra star due to a screw-in bar plug.

Terrible Product, Great Customer Service
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
I got caught in the rain while on a ride with this tape. Normally, this shouldn't be an issue, but it destroyed the adhesive on the back of the tape. I let it dry out and tired to reapply it to my bars, but the "oh so great" Dura Soft Polymer does not stretch at all. No way to put tension in the tape = loose bar tape. Plus, the tape started to get discolored from my gloves after a single ride. For $40, I expected better than this garbage. I would give this tape 0 stars if possible. Save yourself some money and buy stretchy, non-adhesive tape (e.g., Bontrager Gel Cork). All that said, I was very pleased with Competitive Cyclist's customer service -- I got a free return label and a prompt refund.

Quality. Thicker tape which makes it comfy. Small grip to it as well. Worth it.
