Why We Like The Excelsior Pant
When our day consists of a long tour we pull on the La Sportiva Excelsior Pant. This soft-shell pant uses a 4-way stretch and gusseted crotch to encourage powerful and precise movement up the skin track. When we change over at the top of a ridge the adjustable snow gaiter keeps our socks dry and the large side vents can be quickly zipped up before our descent.

Tight cuff - odd sizing
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
I'm 5'11 average build male with 32-33" waist for most pants. Solid thighs and butt from hockey/skiing. The size S fits me fine. Slim type of fit but works with thick long underwear underneath and I'm happy with it. Normally I'd be a medium but based on sizing chart I went with S and it works. Cuff on pant leg is too small in my opinion. With zipper open, it barely fits over my ski boots. I would prefer a bit more room in it to make it easier to fit over. Don't know why pants designed for ski in mind can't give more room in the cuff just to get over the ski boots.
