New York Cinch Ring Chain 1275 and Evolution Disc Lock

On Kryptonite's 1-10 scale of security the New York Noose 1275 and Evolution Disc Lock ranks a 9. It's a combination of a chain and u-lock that effectively secures your bike so that you won't need to worry about it while you run inside for coffee, even in the shady part of town.

The chain itself was made from 3T hardened manganese steel, and features 12mm diameter, six-sided links that are burly enough to stand up to serious abuse. The end loop is a "cinch loop" that can slide over the chain, effectively creating a noose that wraps around your bike, enabling you to use less chain to lock up your bike. In fact, Kryptonite claims the 2.5 foot chain features the equivalent "in use" length as a chain a full foot longer. The chain is secured with an Evolution 4 series Disc Lock, which features a 14mm MAX-Performance steel shackle. The lock cylinder itself uses reinforced anti-drill, anti-pick design, and the oval crossbar provides additional security.

The entire length of the chain is covered with a weather-resistant sleeve that is fastened in place with hook and loop fasteners to keep the chain from rusting, or scratching your bike frame. Protecting the inner workings of the lock is a sliding dustcover that helps prevent debris from making its way in and causing jams in the system. The lock includes three keys, one of which is lit with a high-intensity bulb so you'll never fumble to find the lock in the dark again.
