Why We Like The Helly Hansen Alpha Lifaloft Pant
We like Helly Hansen's Alpha Lifaloft Pant about as much as we like powder days. It's one of the few ski pants that combines rugged waterproofing with four-way stretch fabric for uninhibited mobility that doubles down on snow protection. There's also a touch of Lifaloft insulation to ensure warmth on cold chairlifts.

They run small and rip easily
I only used them for 4 days in Telluride skiing and they had ripped after the 3rd day. They fill nice and fit pretty well if you size up but quality is very questionable

if ure looking for hiking pants
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
I bought these for hiking and mountaineering in snow which MAY NOT be the expected use of these pants. they move very well with my body specifically they don't restrict me when high stepping. the gaiter section of majority of the snow pants are very bulky which make the use of crampons very complicated, but the gaiter section of these pants are the same size and profile of normal pants which makes snowshoeing and use of crampons very easy and safe. however, for deep snow I had to use a real gaiter on top of my pants and boots to stop the snow from getting up into my pants and socks. the ventilation works good but I wish it was a bit larger. I would say that during high intensity activities I have to wear a very thin wool layer under these pants otherwise the inside of the pants would feel super wet and damp from my sweat even with the ventilations fully open but with that thin layer and taking a few more breaks everything feels very comfy. with a thicker wool layer I have sat (not moving) in low 20F for extended period of times without feeling cold. pants never got wet from snow (have not tested them in rain). I wear size 32-30 (32-waist and 30-leg) jeans and size medium fits we perfectly.

Tailored Fit and great performance
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
I tried on many different pairs of pants from REI, Patagonia, and HH and these are the only ones that worked well for me. In the other brands M was to tight, i had to have them fully adjusted to the largest size they would go and large pants i would swim in and would get super bunched when adjusted to the max. These pants are comfortable and I am right in the middle of the adjustable range. They kept me warm and dry from 5 degrees out to 35 degrees. I would highly recommend.

Very Warm and Fexible
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
The ski pants flex with all movements. They are very warm on a negative 20 day skiing. Still very comfortable on days in the teens and twenties. Best ski pants I own. True to size.

Great quality and stylish

I loved these pants, but just couldn't keep them. They fit like a stylish slim fit pant I would normally wear, however that means they were way too tight to use as a ski pant. If you're only going to wear 1 thin baselayer, or none at all, then ordering your normal size might work. If not, definitely size up.

run very small

Haven't had a chance to try these out yet... they seem to run very small.. My son' is 6' , about 150 lbs and a 30/31 waist.... a very thin (runner's body). The quality looks great and I just ordered him both a medium and a large to try. Wondering if they were miss-marked (almost looked like a youth or women's size, as opposed to a men's).
