Why We Like The Impulse 112 Ski

Known for their featherweight touring skis, Black Diamond’s Impulse 112 Ski caught our attention since definitely a bomber freeride ski with an emphasis on stability. The 112mm waist finds the sweet spot between effortless float and quick-pivoting maneuverability, while the long turn radius and poplar wood core supply speed-craving performance for big mountain lines.

Soft snow rippers

Like others have said, the all-around abilities of the 112 are impressive. Outside of hard pack, they shred everything. Stable, carvable, not hard to get on edge and obviously plenty of float for the deep stuff. I think their most impressive attribute is how quick they are- amazing for skiing tight lines or raiding power stashes in the trees. Isn’t that what we are usually skiing inbounds anyway? BD- please make a lightweight version for your widest touring ski!!!

BD Impulse lineup

The Impulse lineup is underrated. I have the Impulse 104 as a one ski quiver and went with the 112 for a go to powder ski for those deeper days. Both sets have a set of Fritschi Tecton 13 touring binding. Black Diamond finally hit the mark with a frontside, side country, light touring, all mountain, freeski do it anything ski...I live mine!

Even better than expected!

I'm 6'3 about 190ish and the 112/ 186 is the way to go. These ski's are my Touring set up, but they've seen some resort skinning days and lift rides. For such a big underfoot ski, these thing can really get up on the edge. They ski all conditions I've thrown at them very well. Highly recommend these skis.

Amazing Ski

This ski does everything for me. From powering through choppy hard pack to powder days, I’ve never had a complaint with these. 112 is the perfect width and really can get the job done day in and day out.

AMAZING

Ski those last winter as a demo. They were so fun but still so powerful. Kind of a perfect balance between big mountain ski that is hard charging and still fun playful inbounds... Really liked it
