Compactor Ski Poles
While you're all about earning your turns, you're not too keen on tacking on more weight than necessary. So when it comes time to get elevated, reach for the Black Diamond Compactor Ski Pole and trek onward—lightly. With a little help from a quick-release button, the pole folds down into three compact pieces that stay connected with a flexible yet tenacious cord (Black Diamond calls this technology Z-Pole), which also makes it easy to stow when it's not in use. A FlickLock Pro mechanism allows you to adjust the length easily, and the Compactor boasts reinforcements at the joints. And thanks to its simple and effective design, you can save your battles for the terrain at hand and focus on getting to the fun part.

Poles do the job for ski touring
Bought these recently to split board. They work great. Took me a minute to realize that I had to pull the middle until it clicked to lock them into place, but once I got them figured out they did exactly what I needed them to do

The only pole for splitboarders
I've used these exclusively for splitboard touring, they are the only way to go. They could be more durable but I can't live without them.

Poles
Great poles for compacted size. Last couple pairs I had issues with the connectors.

Connecting joints prone to failure
Failure mode: Sections of the pole freeze together, and splitboarders at the top of a slope must apply lots of force to twist and pull the frozen sections apart. This force can detach the inner sleeve that bridges the sections. The inner sleeve is normally attached to one section and the other section slides over it like a tent pole. If the inner sleeve slips completely into one section, you can't join the pole. If you manage to join to pole in the field with a loose joint, an outer sleeve may crack without sufficient support if the joint has slipped from it's original position. I've tried to epoxy the inner sleeves back, but they fail again eventually. On my older version of the compactor poles, the "button" often got stuck and wouldn't pop out to hold the pole together. (Maybe galvanic corrosion because it looked like the steel button was corroding). That may have gotten fixed with newer versions, but the joint problem seems to still be an issue according to other reviews here. In the summer, the z-pole construction may not have the same problems, but these poles can be frustrating if you are a splitboarder who uses these poles heavily. It's nice to have a pole that collapses small enough to fit in a pack, but I wouldn't suggest these poles for winter use.
