Nothing gets our heart racing like sending a big mountain line full of untouched snow in our Cardiac GORE-TEX PRO Jacket. Named after one of the premier backcountry zones in Utah's Wasatch Mountains, this jacket uses a GORE-TEX PRO laminate to wick sweat on the skintrack and ensure we can move freely through open powder fields. For added performance, we made this jacket with reinforced shoulder and large chest pockets that hold our skins so we can change over for another lap quicker than ever.

My new favourite!
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
I am usually a size M for most brands like Burton or Nike. For this jacket, I went with size S as I already have the Cottonwoods Jacket and I know the same size will be right for me. This Gore-Tex Pro is definitely softer than the normal Gore-Tex. It also feels thinner even though it is also 3L. One thing that i really like about this jacket is the collar. It fits my neck just nice and the collar ends just at my chin. It also has zippers on both sides for breathability. As for the bottom pocket, I am not sure why there is only 1 but i believe there is a purpise for it. It will be nice if there are 2 so that I can put my hands in for warmth. Anyhow, I am definitely looking forward to the new Winter 2022/23 collection.

Love this jacket - ALMOST perfect!
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
I love this jacket - just a few things that make it just short of perfect. Have used this in the backcountry and the resort. Fits great, high quality, bomb proof. I miss having dedicated hand pockets but the jacket has so many pockets it’s really not that big of a deal. I keep the vents open on the neck and have had zero issues. The left-hand zipper is a little annoying but not a dealbreaker. I’d highly recommend this jacket for anyone looking for a high-quality Gore-Tex pro shell.

Quality product/some issues
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
So far I have used the jacket for 2 stays of snowy resort skiing. It's a high quality build with a few issues. I ordered a large, which is a little big for me, but it fit all my layers and a stout puffy very comfortably. Blocked out the wind and snow admirably, and I didn't really notice it on except for the collar. It doesn't have any hand warming pockets, but of course these are not needed for BC use. They would be nice for resort use, and I plan to use it for both. I can confirm the issues other reviewers mentioned: It is a left handed zipper, not a deal breaker, easy to get used to, You just have to be careful not to carry this habit into your other garments. The collar is a little annoying, but I can live with that. Last, the powder skirt snaps do not line up on mine. This was mentioned by another reviewer and BC exchanged his, but mine still shipped this way. I tried to return it, but BC says they don't have any more Larges in stock or on order in my size. If I can exchange for one with correctly placed skirt snaps, it is a keeper due to quality for price.

Best all around shell
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
I've used this jacket for various activities such as riding resorts, snowmobiling, backcountry skiing and even ice climbing, and it has been excellent. When riding resorts in heavy snow it has kept me completely dry all day. When snowmobiling I was amazed at how well it blocked the wind at high speeds. When backcountry skiing the huge chest pockets allow plenty of room for my skins to dry in between laps. Not to mention the arm pit zips and hood zips to vent out heat. When I wore it ice climbing, it was flexible and the jacket did not hinder or restrict any movement. I love this jacket and it has been the perfect shell for all the winter acitivities I do

Unreal Jacket
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
Have now used this jacket on the resort and on a big backcountry day, absolutely love everything about it. The taped zippers are a little sticky at first but quickly break in and become easier to use. Love the little details like the vents around the neck, I didn't expect to actually use them, but have been regularly. Massive armpit vents dump heat like a dream. And all the pockets being huge are awesome for taking off/reapplying layers throughout the day and stashing snacks. Only thing I wish it had/that I would change is a second lower pocket on the right side. The one sided pocket is a weird choice, I would really appreciate having one on the other side for some more storage (can never have too many pockets IMO). I wanted to knock a star off for this, but couldn't because everything else is too awesome.

Best shell I've had
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
Love this jacket. The gortex is nice and thick which I appreciate alot, not only because it keeps the wind and rain out but it doesn't easily tare on tree limbs and rocks. The vents are in the right places. I especially liked the extra tall neck with vents built in. The only odd thing was no hand pockets, which doesn't really matter to me on the mountain but I notice when I'm wearing it on the street I'm often reaching to put my hands in pockets that aren't there.

Intrusive Collar
- Familiarity:
- I returned this product before using it
At 5'11 165 with a 41" chest I ordered a large and the fit was fairly correct. The materials seem really nice and the jacket is very light weight. The orange colors look great. My major issue is with the collar. It is constantly rubbing my face even with the expansion zippers unzipped and the jacket open. It can be seen on the models in the product photos. This is a deal breaker for me and I'll be sending back.

Great jacket inbounds and out, layer up!
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
Great jacket with some cool features. Tons of really great pockets - the lower fronts are great stashes for food and snacks, large chest pockets are great for gloves/skins (or snacks), and front chest right side is good for phone/radio (and snacks). The inner pockets fit skins nicely and keep 'em warm for the next lap uphill. The neck area has a couple zips for you to open if you're like me and like to have the neck/lower face covered, but still need to breathe. Hood fits over a helmet nicely too. Took off one star for the fit. I have wide chest and shoulder areas, but the sizing guide placed me in a medium. Next time around, I'll size up to large. I felt some tightness in the armpit and upper arm areas when I move my arms up and around. For reference, I'm 5'9", 180lbs, chest measurement 40". Overall, I'd recommend it for sure both riding at the resort or touring laps in the backcountry. I'd recommend to size up if you're towards the upper end of the range, between sizes, or ride with mid-layers underneath. Disclaimer: I was provided this jacket to test, but these are my honest opinions.

Size up
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
I am normally a medium in everything, but had to size up on this. The large is a tad too big, but at least I can layer it a lot. A few observations: - the orange color is not as vibrant as in the photos. If you look carefully at the photos, you will notice that this is actually a two-tone jacket, with two shades of orange. It is kinda weird at first, because the two tones are not different enough to really stand out, but somehow it worked for me, especially when worn with the matching bib. Might not be everybody's taste, so pay attention to the photos more than I did. - the monkey hands seem to be made of very cheap material, and that's my only complaint in terms of quality.

The last shell you will ever buy
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
I am truly impressed with what Backcountry was able to do with this jacket. I was very skeptical at first, since they are new to the skiing apparel game. That skepticism was shattered when I wore it both alpine skiing and touring in New Hampshire. The shell was perfect for rolling up and taking little space in my pack on the way up, and clutch stopping the wind and snow while bombing down. Incidentally I also own Backcountry?s synthetic insulated mid layer and it was like the two jackets were made for each other. I have been looking for a jacket that performed as well as it did but also that fit as well as it did. The price can not be matched and the quality is top notch.
